How to take model digitals at home

By Drew NerosModel since 2015, photographer

You can take model digitals at home with a phone and a window. Most models do. And most of them never hear back, because their digitals look like a photoshoot.

Why your digitals get ignored

An agent opens your email and decides in seconds. They're scanning for a reason to say no, and a home shoot usually hands them one, like window light from the wrong side or a lens that changes the shape of your face.

That's annoying, because it has nothing to do with your looks. It's the setup, and the people who know the setup are bookers and photographers, who don't usually explain it to new faces.

What the agency standard looks like

I've modelled since 2015, with agencies in a lot of countries, and I now shoot digitals for models getting ready to submit. The standard is stricter than most people think. You can still hit it in your living room.

There's one camera mistake that gets models rejected before an agent even looks at their face. It's one of the most common mistakes in home digitals, and it's easy to fix once you know.
